Bluebell was designed to be a live-in vehicle, equipped with all the things we needed to live comfortably. She has been our home for three years and counting and has slowly evolved through a couple of renovations into what she is today. Building this van was a big learning curve, living in it was was an even bigger one. We now know what works and what doesn't when a build is focussed on habitation.
Everything you see in the photos is fitted by us. Bluebell is brimming with reclaimed materials and reconditioned kit. The majority of the woodwork in the van is reclaimed from various pieces of unique furniture. We strive to build our vans with distinctive design flairs and flourishes, whilst keeping the space useful and practical.
Bluebell is well equipped to help us live comfortably on the road. We have carefully thought about the facilities we need most in day to day life. Over the years we have added to and removed features of the van to help streamline the resourcefulness of the space. Ultimately we want the space to be as practical as possible however it's also its just nice to sit and admire the cosiness we've created.
We cook on propane gas which also heats our shower.
We have an underslung water tank, with running water to the kitchen sink and shower.
Our fridge, lights and devices are powered by our 12v electric system, charging our leisure batteries predominantly by solar panels on the roof and our battery to battery smart charger from the van's starter battery. We have a 240v power system that can run off either our inverter or
electric hookup point.
Finally a log burner from Glastonbury Burners keeps us cosy in the colder seasons.
